STEM Day at Mountbatten School

Scorpion Vision Presents at STEM Day

Tuesday 12th December 2017 saw us at the excellent Mountbatten School in Romsey, Hampshire presenting at the second STEM day organised by PPMA BEST (Business Education Skills and Training).

This is a programme organised by Danny Reed of the PPMA and is funded by the PPMA to encourage young people to consider a career in the high technology packaging industry. This is a diverse industry to work in and demands many different types of skills and some very high level engineering talent.

Josh advising pupilScorpion Vision employs Josh Barton-Coup, an apprentice machine vision engineer who left Brockenhurst College with a BTEC Level III in Engineering and who is now studying one day a week at Solent University of Southampton.

Josh came along to support BEST at the STEM day and enjoyed making his contribution to the event by sitting on the panel of 'dragons' who judged the creative efforts of the teams of young engineers who were competing to win prizes by designing innovative products for everyday use.

Scorpion Vision presented along with Jenton Group on the machines that are used for processing and packaging food products. Both Jenton and Scorpion build factory automation systems that are used for volume food production. It was very interesting to see the fascination of our young audience and we hope they were inspired to follow the path to what could be a very rewarding career in engineering.
